This 7-day itinerary connects Dhaka and Sylhet through immersive community-based experiences and natural wonders. It highlights Bangladesh’s indigenous cultures and scenic landscapes while supporting local communities. In Sylhet’s Jaflong region, a new community-based tourism initiative encourages homestays in Khasi villages and eco-friendly activities.

Experience Dhaka 

The capital and largest city of Bangladesh is the cultural and economic hub of the country. Having a colossal historical back-ground, the old part of the city, known as Old Dhaka, is home to a broad range of architectural heritage.

Sylhet

Nestled in northeastern Bangladesh, Sylhet is a serene region famed for its lush tea gardens and Ratargul Swamp forest. Explore nature’s beauty and cultural richness.

Lawachara National Park

Lawachara National Park, situated in Bangladesh, is a biodiverse haven. This protected area is renowned for its rich flora and fauna, including endangered hoolock gibbons. Also explore the Khasi Village. This beautiful (and clean!) village is home to the Khasi tribe, one of the world’s few matriarchal tribes.

Itinerary

Day - 1 Arrival in Dhaka- Sylhet

Arrival in Dhaka – Welcome to Bangladesh!

Bangladesh is a vibrant destination known for its rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes and warm hospitality.

Our airport assistance will help you to get to the international to domestic terminal for fly to Sylhet.

Pick-up at the Sylhet Airport and transfer to the hotel by private vehicle together with your English peaking guide. Time at leisure.

Day - 2 Jaflong Community Tourism

After breakfast check out from hotel Drive to Jaflong (1–2 hours from Sylhet). Here you begin the Community-Based Tourism (CBT) program launched by the Bangladesh Tourism Board. You will stay overnight in a designated Khasi village homestay, where local families host guests.  Village Homestay & Culture: Stay with a Khasi family in one of four community-run homestays. Enjoy home-cooked Khasi cuisine (like ja doh and doh kleh) and learn about the Khasi matrilineal culture firsthand

Piyain River Boat & Fishing: Take a guided boat ride on the crystal-clear Piyain River. Try local net fishing or simply enjoy the mountain-fringed river scenery.

Cycling Through Tea Trails: Rent a bicycle to pedal through nearby tea plantations and riverbanks. This is a relaxing way to admire the green, undulating hills that Sylhet is famous for.

Trek to Mokam Punjee & Waterfall: Hike into the forested Mokam Punjee area (about 30 minutes). Here a short trek leads to the scenic Mayabi waterfall amidst lush jungle. (Local guides can show you hidden trails and stories of the forest.)

Evening Story & Bonfire: End the day around a community bonfire. Khasi elders share folktales and legends, while guests soak in the starlit village atmosphere. This cultural exchange is at the heart of the community-tourism experience.

Overnight in Homestay Jaflong

Day - 3 Jaflong (continued) & Transfer to Sreemangal

Morning breakfast with family, Spend the morning with tribal family walk around activities and to explore how they live their daily life and join with them. After lunch, depart for Sreemangal (roughly 3 hours’ drive). En route you pass lush tea gardens and can stop for tea sampling at Nilkantha Tea Cabin (famous for “seven-layer tea”). Arrive in Sreemangal by late afternoon and check into a local guesthouse. You’ll have time to enjoy a quiet evening in the tea-region town of Sreemangal..

Note: Bring swimwear, towels and snacks.

Day - 4 Sreemangal Nature & Tribal Village

An early start today for a trek through Lawachara National Park. Head into Lawachara Forest for a guided walk. This rainforest is home to hoolock gibbons, capped langurs, macaques and over 250 bird species. Your guide will point out orchids, giant trees and forest birds as you trek well-marked trails.

Khasia Tribal Village: Visit a traditional Khasia matriarchal village nearby. The Khasia are an indigenous hill tribe whose women lead in family and business. Observe their betel-leaf gardens (an important cash crop) and perhaps meet local artisans. This stop deepens the community-focused theme by showing daily life in a living tribal village.

Back to hoteo for a rest . after lunch start Tea Garden Tour: Visit a major tea estate (such as the Finlay Tea Company). Walk among manicured tea bushes, learn how tea is picked and processed, and sample fresh local brews. Also we will visit pianble garden  and lemon garden if time permits.

Day - 5 Sreemangal - Swamp Forest & return to Sylhet

Travel back toward Sylhet and journey to Ratargul Swamp Forest (about 2 hour from Sreemangal). Ratargul is Bangladesh’s only freshwater swamp forest – 3,325 acres of evergreen flooded jungle. It’s sometimes called “Sylhet’s Sundarbans”. Upon arrival, board a small motor boat for the forest safari.

Boat Safari: Glide silently through the submerged trees of Ratargul. In monsoon season the water rises 20–30 feet, creating a fairytale scene of trees jutting from calm water. This unique ecosystem is globally rare.

Wildlife & Photography: Keep watch for macaque monkeys on the banks, curious otters playing by the boat, and over 70 bird species (herons, kingfishers, and eagles) in the canopy. The morning light and mist often make the jungle picture-perfect.
After the boat ride, transfer to airport and catch the evening flight to Dhaka .

Overnight in Sylhet

Day - 6 Sylhet - Dhaka

Fly from Sylhet to Dhaka in the morning. Spend the day exploring Bangladesh’s capital. Explore life and sites of chaotic Old Dhaka. Visit the key attractions like Lalbagh Fort – the Moghul Fort, Ahsan Manzil – the Pink Palace of Dhaka, Star Mosque – the Mogul Mosque, and the Armenian Church from the 16th century.

We will proceed to the Sadarghat River Port and enjoy local boat cruise on the Buriganga River and explore the busy activities on both sides of the river.

Afterwards we will continue our discovery tour and ride a rickshaw in the chaotic and narrow streets of Old Dhaka. Get to know the people and the history during this tour of Old Dhaka. We will show you most of the attractions in Old Dhaka and if you are visiting Bangladesh for the first time, Old Dhaka is a must in order to understand the heritage, the culture and the way of life in Bangladesh’s capital.
